Augusta Georgia Spirit Creek 1835 Ash rare antique aquatint color litho view
Brian DiMambro- Antiquarian Books, Maps & PrintsRare early 19th century American aquatint view.
Thomas Ash, Picturesque Views of American Scenery, 1835, Philadelphia. Engraved by J. Hill after a painting by J. Shaw.
One of a series of 20 total views originally issued by subscription in fascicule parts to pre-solicited patrons, and then only in a small print run for general sale in 1835; thus all examples are today rare on the market (according to one of the leading map dealers).
Print is dusty, age toned and a bit soiling darkened, print shows signs of extensive handling over the past 190 years. Assorted small edge flaws, some scattered small spotting, paper wrinkling, etc. Will still look very nice when framed for display.
