The Boston Almanac for the Year 1848 by S.N. Dickinson.
Published 1847, Boston by B.B. Mussey & Thomas Groom.
192 pages. Text in English. Abundant period advertising section at rear, no map. Early owners name on paste down (Charles G. Golding?).

Includes a detailed list of Boston events by month and often day for the entire year plus a lengthy list of inscriptions on tomb stones at Mount Auburn cemetery. The very detailed list of businesses includes numerous private lamp sellers, ice dealers, coffin warehouses, collectors, cigar makers, botanic physicians, circulating libraries, over 2 dozen book binders, riggers and sail makers, the list goes on.

Publisher's cloth binding, gilt title lettering, embossed cover decorations, all edges gilt.

Book is physically old and shows some signs of handling and time. Book is not new or in "new" condition.

Binding gently age worn, cloth rubbed, a few minor tiny holes along front joint, mostly light or inoffensive signs of handling and time but nothing severe or unsightly, book remains overall attractive as an object.

Paper is gently toned, still clean, tight, sound internally.

Still attractive on the shelf. The book displays a pleasing and unique age patina and is in overall nice antiquarian condition, any age flaws which may be present seem easy to overlook or forgive.

Please review photos for more detail showing how this pocket book survives. The asking price reflects the condition based on our examination and 35+ years full time exposure to antiquarian books, maps and printed ephemera of all types and genres. Flaws seen and/ or described have been taken into account.
