Celestial Armillary Sphere Copernicus 1790’s Doolittle variant hand color print
Brian DiMambro- Antiquarian Books, Maps & Prints
The artificial Sphere. (horizon- zodiac- poles- zenith & nadar).
Issued c.1790’s, America by Amos Doolittle. Imprint at bottom right of top box on print.
Charming and very nice visual example of this scarce 18th century engraved print with beautiful hand color.
Right margin of print trimmed narrow (close to neat line in a spot), margin nicely extended with similar old paper to facilitate framing.
There are at least 2 different versions of this 18th century engraved image which display very noticeable differences within the Copernican System.
Remains a nice looking example with a pleasing age patina.
Any small age flaws are minor and easy to overlook or forgive.
