(China- Rare and fascinating mid 17th Century printed image- river culture- natives in foreground- human activity depicted)
Issued 1665, Amsterdam, Holland by Meurs
Splendid and uncommon/ scarce antique engraved view print relating to China and Chinese culture.
In addition to the view we show, there is a second similar style view of Taujenjeen printed on the back. So two views on this single sheet.
Virtually all printed images related to China prior to this are very scarce and all worthy of acquisition. An image which is one of relatively few among the early period of Western iconography relating to printed images of this part of China.
As always found, with original hand typeset printed text below the image and on verso. Hand-made paper, as was all paper of this era.
In Good+ to perhaps VG [or better] condition: minor typical light age toning to paper, light minor old random small spotting, overall the image remains clean and very attractive. Any minor age flaws or defects may hopefully be clearly seen in the images. A nice looking image which could easily be matted for better presentation, gift giving or resale.
Please examine the scan closely as it forms the central part of the description. There is a zoom feature so you can see close up. [note: we grade very conservatively and always seek to disclose any noteworthy flaws ].
The printed area remains visually pleasing, a nice impression of an interesting and scarce historical technical image.
A fine old print any collector, dealer, or institution would be happy to possess.
