During this period, this journal was a major, influential national publication which employed many of the top artists of the era.
Paper uniformly age toned as typical, some pages loose. Issue was once bound up in a volume and is now free-standing and complete unto itself as originally issued.
Nice looking, clean, well preserved example, pages loosened, any age flaws easy to overlook or forgive. Text on reverse of each page as always, images and maps from Harper's like this are often offered separately for display.

The front page has two prints: "Central City, Colorado" which is a town view; and "A Gambling Scene in Denver City, Colorado".
Inside is a large print of "George Bancroft"; a full page of the: "Grand Reception Given by the 7th Regiment at the Academy of Music, New York"; a print of: "The Late Rev. Eliphalet Nott"; a half page of: "General Sherman's Reception in the United States House of Representatives".
double page centerfold: "St. Valentine's Day" which is a very decorative & displayable print. Also, the back page has a print: "St. Valentine's Post Office".
