736 pages. Text in English. Illustrated throughout with 21 full page steel engraved portrait plates of President's wives. 

In the much less common deluxe publisher's 1/4 leather binding.

Attractive 1/2 antiquarian leather binding, raised & gilt bands, gilt title lettering, cloth covers, all edges gilt. 

Book is physically old and shows some signs of handling and time. 

Binding gently age worn but still appealing, leather and joints slightly rubbed with minor scuff spots along front joint, slight cracking to front joint (cover still well and firmly attached), leather still supple, remains overall very attractive as an object.

Text block paper is gently age toned as typical, internally book remains mostly clean, tight and sound. A book which has been taken care of but may/ does not look like new.

Still attractive on the shelf. Book displays a pleasing and unique age patina and is in rather nice antiquarian condition, any age flaws seem easy to overlook or forgive.
