524 pages. Text in English. Illustrated with two engraved plates and two lithographed plates. 

Inscribed by one of his parents (Martyn? Paine). Appears to be uncommon.

Attractive antiquarian full leather binding, raised bands, gilt title lettering, old hand lettered paper spine label, embossed cover & compartment decorations, gilt inner dentelles, all edges gilt. A monumental binding which spared little expense.

Book is physically old and shows some signs of handling and time. Once in a library, small old spine sticker, minor evidence of pocket removal to rear pastedown, no other markings noticed.

Binding age worn but still appealing, leather and joints well scuffed and dried, front cover joint cracked, leather rubbed but still supple, remains overall very attractive as an object.

Text block paper is gently age toned as typical, internally book remains mostly clean, tight and sound. A book which has been taken care of but may/ does not look like new.

Still attractive on the shelf. Book displays a pleasing and unique age patina and is in rather nice antiquarian condition, any age flaws seem easy to overlook or forgive.
