Original early 18th century copper engraved map with original outline hand color.

Vignette cartouche features a native in feather skirt and head dress; three small ships off coast of Peru. Engraved note about the discoveries of Magellan at the legs of the Indian figure.

Small hole in sheet within the distance scales across the top border with small thin scuff line below it. Backed with matching old paper and now easy to overlook this minor small age fault since it is outside the printed map area.

Overall, sheet uniformly lightly browned, remains a nice looking example with very pleasant age patina.

Sheet size c. 8 x 10”. Engraved area c. 6 3/8” x 8 1/2”.
