Scarce and splendid early 20th century city promotional souvenir. Issued to showcase existing business of many types, and to entice new ones to this thriving prosperous mid-western city.Â
Excellent wide assortment of active urban scenery, capturing dozens of large businesses across the city, often with people, signage, vehicles- a mix of early autos with horse drawn carriages, back when cars shared the roads with horses in the city center. Many of the active urban images likely difficult to find elsewhere, perhaps found only here for this promotional.Â
A detailed photographic chronicling of this city at the dawn of the 20th century, capturing many identified business buildings during their impressive economic glory, numerous views shown in fine birds-eye perspective.
Publisher's gold gilt ink art nouveau heavy paper wrappers, oblong format.
Book is physically old and shows some signs of handling and time. Book is not new or in "new" condition.
Binding age worn, yap edges chipped, front cover detached with tear repair along spine, remains attractive overall, cover is clean and visually pleasing.
Text block paper is gently toned, light to moderate scattered age spotting, internally still well preserved, tight, sound.
Still attractive on the shelf. Book displays a pleasing and unique age patina and is in nice antiquarian condition, any age flaws easy to overlook or forgive.Â
