Art by Winslow Homer
A visually appealing antique wood engraved print. It is an original pictorial sheet extracted from a scarce 19th century illustrated popular periodical. Offered for the outstanding modern appeal of the printed image.
In Good to Good+ [or better] condition: displays light uniform age toning as typical. There may be light scattered spotting or staining in the blank margin, creases running parallel to the centerfold line, possibly small minor edge repairs on the back with small pieces of archival tape. Any defects may hopefully be clearly seen in the scanned image.
Please examine the scan closely as the picture forms a central part of the description. There is a zoom feature so you can see close up. [note: we grade very conservatively and always seek to disclose any noteworthy flaws].
There is text on the back because it was extracted from an illustrated periodical from the
19th
century. Great fun to look at both sides. The only way to own this image as an original printed sheet from the 19th century.
Harper's Weekly appeared to use an acidic wood pulp paper. This paper is now slightly fragile, and must be handled carefully. We will ship this print inside an archival plastic sleeve, gently rolled within a sturdy tube.
Overall, the image area remains clean and very attractive.
Unique and arresting old printed image entirely worthy of hanging for display or presenting to someone as a present.
Original fold line as issued.
Sheet measures c. 15 7/8" H x 21 1/2" W.
