Lovely antique engraved map with original hand color.
Engraved notes with tracks in the ocean area show the routes taken by the Spanish fleet. Trade winds and ocean currents are shown by many small arrows and shading. Some topographical interior details are depicted, a note at top left is a key to the various European powers denoted on the map -- French, English, Dutch, and Danish.
A large portion of the southern United States is shown with rivers, forts, Indian tribes and colonial possessions. Many coastal place names along the eastern U.S. seaboard, from the Chesapeake Bay down to Florida and across to Mexico.
In near VG or better condition, bottom left blank margin wide and trimmed slightly uneven, minor light surface age wear and toning as typical, some faint minor foxing in the blank margins, overall the image is clean, well preserved and very attractive.Fine age patina.
