Published 1673, Vienna by Michael Thurnmayer. Engraved by Gualdo Priorato.
Fine late 17th century folio engraved plan of this Dutch city.
One of the most interesting aspects of the plan is the clear delineation of the early fortified walls which still enclosed the city in the 17th century. The various early entrances through gates into are clearly visible as well as the early flow and pattern of canals.
Paper gently wrinkled, top portion of map backed at top long ago with hand-made old paper. Map displays very well. Otherwise remaining clean and well-preserved overall, still an entirely pleasing example of this charming 17th century Dutch city plan which will look lovely if displayed.
Sheet measures c. 17 1/2" W x 13 1/4" H.
Engraved area c. 16" W x 12 1/4" H
