A History of American Manufactures from 1608 to 1860, exhibiting the Origin and Growth of the Principal Mechanic Arts and Manufactures from the Earliest Colonial Period to the Adoption of the Constitution, by J. Leander Bishop.
Published 1864, Philadelphia by Edward Young & Co.
2 Volumes. 642, 826 pages. Text in English. Fine engraved portrait frontis in each vol.

Period 1/2 leather bindings, slightly raised bands, gilt title lettering, marbled covers.

A monumental and comprehensive work.

Set is physically old and shows some signs of handling and time. Set is not new or in "new" condition. Complete as issued, a third supplemental vol. was published two years later in 1866.

Bindings gently age worn, leather rubbed but still supple, joints scuffed, vol. 2 front joint cracked but cover remains firmly attached, remains overall attractive as an object.

Text block paper is gently toned, internally still well preserved, tight, sound.

Still attractive on the shelf. Set displays a pleasing and unique age patina and is in nice antiquarian condition, any age flaws easy to overlook or forgive.

Please review photos for more detail and our best attempt to convey how this antique set survives.
