The Birds of the Cambridge Region of Massachusetts, by William Brewster.
Published 1906, Cambridge, Massachusetts by the Nuttall Ornithological Club.
426 pages. Text in English. Four plates and three maps including an engraved frontis portrait and double page map at rear.
Dedication special example- Warmly inscribed by Brewster to the Editor Charles F. Batchelder. Also with a folded 4 pp. manuscript letter tipped in as well from Brewster to Batchelder from July 1906. Appears to be a large paper copy but unknown if this is the case.
Attractive antiquarian 1/2 leather binding, raised & gilt bands, gilt compartment decorations, gilt title lettering, marbled covers, deckled edges, t.e.g. Inscribed by Author.
Book is physically old and shows some signs of handling and time.
Binding gently age worn but still appealing, leather and joints lightly scuffed and rubbed but still supple, remains overall attractive as a physical object of this era.
Text block paper is age toned as typical, internally book remains mostly clean, tight and sound. A book which has been taken care of but does not look like a new book. This is an antique old book which has been handled over the past many decades.
Still attractive on the shelf. Book displays a pleasing and unique age patina and is in rather nice antiquarian condition, any age flaws seem easy to overlook or forgive.
Please review photos for our detailed attempt to present this book as it actually survives. There is no attempt to hide anything but it's virtually impossible to list every single last tiny flaw or minor (normal) age defect which may exist
We often over-describe relatively normal or minor flaws that many sellers would not even bother to mention since most people would overlook them as unworthy of comment. Many people tell us the books they receive from us are nicer in person than they appears on the screen. We want you to be clear about what you are buying, so we take numerous photos and try to describe it openly and honestly. We accept returns, so we're on your side in any transaction. Thank you for being reasonable, if you have any doubts about condition or have very high expectations/ needs for super-fine, we advise you to not purchase the item so as to avoid disappointment.
