Horace Walpole Mysterious Mother 1791 Dublin rare leather book incest story
Brian DiMambro- Antiquarian Books, Maps & Prints

The Mysterious Mother- A Tragedy.
Publ. Dublin, 1791. First edition thus. As typical with no portrait frontis.
Attractive old 1/4 leather binding , spine gilt lettered, marbled endpapers. Evidently a work on incest which has been called "one of the most vile" writings of all time.
Book is physically old and shows some mostly light signs of handling and time.
Binding gently age worn but still appealing, leather lightly rubbed and scuffed in spots but still clean and attractive, remains overall very attractive as an object.
Text block paper is gently age toned as typical, some scattered spotting, internally book remains tight and sound.
A book which has been taken care of but was used and does not look like new.
Still attractive on the shelf.
Book displays a pleasing and unique age patina and is in rather nice antiquarian condition, any age flaws seem easy to overlook or forgive.
Please review photos for more detailed attempt to present this rare 18th century Irish imprint as it survives.
Book Measures c.7 5/8" x 5".
