Hunter's Panoramic Guide from Niagara Falls to Quebec, by Wm. S. Hunter, Jr.
Published 1857, Montreal by Benjamin Dawson.
66 pages. Text in English. Enormous 10 foot long folding pictorial river map at front. Engraved half title. Profusely illustrated throughout with wood engravings. Publisher's catalog at rear.
Publisher's uncommon red cloth binding, gilt title lettering & pictorial cover decorations. Whjle not rare, examples in red cloth with a Montreal Canada imprint are scarce indeed, especially so well preserved as this one.
Book is physically old and shows some signs of handling and time. Item is not new or in "new" condition.
Binding gently age worn, gilt remains bright, rear cover stained, small signs of handling but nothing offensive or severe, remains overall attractive as an object.
Paper is gently toned, internally still well preserved, tight, sound.
Still attractive on the shelf. Book displays a pleasing and unique age patina and is in nice antiquarian condition, any age flaws easy to overlook or forgive.
Please review photos for more detail showing how this great tourist souvenir survives. The asking price reflects the condition based on our examination and 35+ years full time exposure to antiquarian books and ephemera of all types. Flaws seen and described have been taken into account.
