The new Instructive History of Patty Proud or the downfall of vanity, with the reward of good nature.

Publ. J. Cooke, Sidney’s Press, New Haven, CT., 1810.

Rare early 19th century juvenile chapbook.

Eleven woodcuts.

Worn condition, clearly much handled survival. Covers detached and nearly separated, early pin inserted down centerfold binding holes to secure leaves together instead of thread. Very interesting and highly unusual early owners mending of this chapbook. One leaf with top corner tear slight loss of a few letters/words.

Exactly how you’d expect a small paper juvenile chap book from the first part of the 19th century to look.

32 pp. counting both original printed covers. Four woodcuts in total.

Clearly heavily worn condition, various flaws & scattered small stains, light old damp staining, etc.

Scarce in any condition.

Measures c. 4 1/4" H x 2 5/8"W.
