12 consecutive issues, each c. 8 pages. Text in English. Illustrated throughout. Nice assortment of dated advertising as well, often illustrated.
Rare complete run of the first 12 issues of this 19th century technical periodicals, all issues with pleasing visual wood engraved content, including pictorial advertising. Issues included in this lot: March, April, May, June, July, August, September, October, November, December 1871; January & February 1872.
Bindings display signs of age, time and handling, old creases from having once been folded in half, edge tears, small stains, etc. Each issue has old early owner stitch holes down the spine and a larger hole at top left blank margin for having once been gathered together using a piece of string.
All issues of this 19th century mid-western technical publication are scarce by virtue of their imprint location, date, size and format and type of publication which is inherently considered disposable (even to this day).
Virtually all periodicals of this era are somewhat scarce today as loose complete issues. Like most random survivals of old periodical printing, any specific example (like this one) is likely among a relative handful still extant. As each decade goes back from 1950, the rate of scarcity for any specific magazine or paper item increases noticeably.
Please review photos for more detail and our best attempt to convey how these antique newspapers survive. This lot is not new- it is old and has been handled by many different owners in the past.
