Overall VG+ to NF. Much cleaner and nicer example of this scarce and wonderful 19th century lithographed view book than is typically found.

14 panels of views, accordion style as issued. Some light surface rubbing or darkened staining, overall fresh and clean in appearance, internally clean and fresh. First folded view fold line perhaps slightly weakened but still sound and holding well, which is often not the case due to the weight of the folded text block and the stress it places on this paper hinge (often resulting in it being split).

First view is a great double page panoramic birds-eye view looking east from Portland Heights which identifies an Exposition building, a Jewish Synagogue, the Hotel Portland and Morrison St. Bridge beside Mt. Hood. Many of the miniature views around the city capture an abundance of horse drawn carriages and pedestrians on the streets. Western view books of this era are multiples scarcer than their eastern counterparts, and this is one of the more desirable locations of this early west coast urban tourism era in American history.

Album oblong, measures c. 5" H x 6" W. Raised relief covers with running design borders set in concentric pattern around a gilt stamped title.
