Seventy Books About Bookmaking: A Guide to the Study and Appreciation of Printing by Hellmut Lehmann-Haupt.
Published 1941, New York by Columbia University Press.
c. 60 pages. Text in English.
Publisher's cloth binding, original glassine dust jacket.
Inscribed by author to Martin K. Homes (?) with appreciation for his help in 1941. Mr. Lehmann-Haupt was a widely known and highly regarded German rare book expert who worked as curator at Columbia, was a consultant to Hans Kraus, wrote widely and lectured as well.
Book is physically old but looks close to as in "new" condition. The immensely fragile and ephemeral glassine dust wrapper is complete but with spine splits and darkening.
Binding gently age worn remains almost like new and is overall attractive as an object.
Text block paper is gently toned, internally still very clean, well preserved, tight, sound.
Still attractive on the shelf. Book displays a pleasing and unique age patina and is in nice antiquarian condition, any age flaws easy to overlook or forgive.
Please review photos for more detail showing how this mid-20th century book survives. The asking price reflects the condition based on our examination and 35+ years full time exposure to antiquarian books. Flaws seen and described have been taken into account.
Book Measures c. 7 1/4" H x 5 1/4" W.
