Published New York by Wiley & Putnam.
180 pages. Text in English.
Two volumes in one. First American Edition of this third book in the Christmas Tales series.
A rare early Dickens novel bound with The Amber Witch, a literary hoax that purported to a factual Witch craft trial from the 17th century.
Period 1/4 leather binding smooth spine, gilt bands, gilt title lettering, marbled covers.
Front joint scuffed and perhaps slightly weakened, but binding remains clean, tight, and sound, covers still well attached. 2" closed tear across edge of title page, the half title is actually present but torn in half (apparently not affecting any text printed on it).
Book remains well preserved and very attractive on the shelf. It displays a beautiful age patina and is in nice antiquarian condition, any age flaws easy to overlook or forgive.
