Christian Character Formation 1850 Henry Ware Jr. self development book lovelyBrian DiMambro- Antiquarian Books, Maps & Prints
(Old Books, 19th Century Books, Religion, Christianity, Self Improvement).
On the Formation of the Christian Character, Addressed to Those Who are Seeking to Lead a Religious Life, by Henry Ware Jr.
12th edition published 1850, Boston by James Munroe and Company.
176 pages. Text in English.
With (1855) inscription on fly leaf from Abby Lincoln to her friend Miss. Adelaide Wellington.
Publisher's decorative cloth binding, gilt title lettering & spine decorations, embossed scroll cover designs with various patterns.
Book is physically old and shows some signs of handling and time. Book is not new or in "new" condition, but is nicer in person than it appears on the screen.
Binding gently age worn, small stains and cloth splitting along joints, spine ends slightly chipped, gilt remains bright, cloth clean, remains overall very attractive as a mid-19th century object.
Text block paper is gently toned, light scattered age spotting, internally still well preserved, clean, tight, sound.
Still attractive on the shelf. Book displays a pleasing and unique age patina and is in nice antiquarian condition, any age flaws easy to overlook or forgive.
Uncommon thus, in far nicer physical condition than most cloth books of this era.
