Published 1796, London for S. Crowder and P. Rivington.
276 pages. Text in English.
Attractive antiquarian full leather binding, smooth spine, gilt bands, gilt title lettering on contrasting red leather label.
Book is physically old and shows some signs of handling and time.
Binding well and heavily age worn but still appealing, large crack down center of spine although book is still together, leather and joints broken or scuffed, rubbed but still supple, lower corner of front cover broken away slightly exposing the actual wooden board beneath, remains overall attractive as an object.
Although the imprint is London, the book to our eyes has the distinctive look and feel of being an 18th century American leather binding. Same with the paper, as it is of uneven quality, indicating a local production. Potentially an 18th century American "pirate" edition with a false imprint although this is conjecture.
Text block paper is gently age toned as typical, internally book remains mostly sound but in tender condition.
Still attractive on the shelf. Book displays a pleasing and unique age patina, any age flaws seem easy to overlook or forgive.

We often over-describe any flaws that many sellers would not even bother to mention since most people would overlook them as minor and unworthy of comment. Many people tell us the books they receive from us are nicer in person than it appears on the screen. We want you to be clear about what you are buying, so we take clear photos and try to describe it clearly.
