A Collection of the Works of Thomas Chalkley in Two Parts.
Published 1790, Philadelphia by James & Johnson.
608 pages. Text in English. Two volumes bound in one, complete.

18th century American imprint. Very early (18th century?) inscription to front blank fly leaf "Patience Austins Book from her friend Sarah Barney of Nantucket".

Period full leather binding, smooth spine, gilt bands, gilt title lettering on contrasting red leather label. Front cover detached, but text block remains tight and sound. Interior contents display a pleasing age patina, scattered small stains and age spotting throughout.

Book remains well preserved and attractive on the shelf. It displays a pleasing and unique age patina and is in nice antiquarian condition, the age flaws easy to overlook or forgive.
