In an outstanding embossed decorative binding that features a puppet master with an assortment of comical figures cascading below him. Truly one of the most notable and remarkable publishers leather gift bindings of the era.
Period gift leather binding, smooth spine, gilt title lettering, elaborate embossed spine and cover decorations, all edges gilt. Text block slightly shaken, several slightly protruding signatures or page edges. Some loss of leather at head of spine, but covers clean, well preserved - overall book remains sound and wonderful in appearance.
Book displays a pleasing and unique age patina and is in nice antiquarian condition, the age flaws easy to overlook or forgive.
