Short video captures condition much better than words. Please watch prior to purchase to ensure a clear understanding of the set.
The Cottage Bible and Family Expositor; Containing the Authorized Translation of the Old and New Testaments, with Practical Reflection and Short Explanatory Notes, by Thomas Williams.
Published c. 1828-30, London by W. Simpkin and R. Marshall.
3 volumes, each c. 800 pages. Text in English. 4 folding maps.
Period full leather bindings, raised bands, gilt title and volume on contrasting black leather label, gilt ruled compartments and cover decorations, diced patterns on covers, marbled end papers and edges.
Some leather surface crackling to front joints, but bindings remain clean, tight, and sound. Interior contents display a uniform age patina, with minor age spotting throughout. Two pages in vol. 3 are defective as seen in video.
Any age flaws are easy to overlook or forgive. Overall a handsome antiquarian survival with a lovely shelf appearance.
Books measure: 8 3/4" H X 5 1/2" W.
Set along the shelf measures: 5 3/4".
