Scarce early American edition. A classic 18th century philosophical work wherein the author presents his views on a proper life and conduct as if he were an eastern philosopher.
Book opens to first leaf of the dedication, leaf A4 (p. v.ii). of dedication slightly defective along fore edge with small loss of text, final page is Finis leaf.
Period full leather binding, smooth spine, gilt title lettering on contrasting red leather label, institutional paper label on spine, library rules on cover.
Binding remains clean, tight, and sound.
Interior well age worn, small staining and thumbing throughout, contents display a pleasing age patina, some scattered spotting throughout.
Book remains well preserved and attractive on the shelf. It displays a pleasing and unique age patina and is in nice antiquarian condition, the age flaws easy to overlook or forgive.
