Uncommon monumental 19th century set, encyclopaedic in scope and content. Complete with 26 color maps of the world.
Publisher's cloth bindings, gilt title lettering to spines, plain blue cloth covers as issued.
Set is physically old and shows some signs of handling and time. Set is not new or in "new" condition.
Bindings age worn, small surface scrape into the board at the base of volume one rear cover, internal hinges cracked, mostly light signs of handling and time but nothing offensive or severe, set remains overall attractive as an object.
Paper is gently toned, internally still clean, tight, sound internally. A very heavy set.
Still attractive on the shelf. The set displays a pleasing and unique age patina and is in overall nice antiquarian condition, any age flaws which may be present seem easy to overlook or forgive.
