Brian DiMambro- Antiquarian Books, Maps & Prints

(Old Books, 19th Century Books, Atlases, Americana, New England, Massachusetts, Essex County).
Atlas of Essex County Massachusetts from Actual Surveys and Official Records.
Published 1872, Philadelphia by D.G. Beers & Co.
139 pages, all maps lithographed with original hand color. Text in English. Complete as issued with a profusion of city and township maps, most with hundreds of specific home owners located and named.
Publisher's 1/4 leather binding, cloth covers, gilt title lettering, embossed cover decorations.
Atlas is complete aside from missing the county map. Loosely inserted are two supplemental folio sheet hand colored maps- is a double page United States map plus an extra double page Massachusetts map (both loose and with some edge splits).
Atlas is 150 years old and shows some obvious signs of handling and time. Atlas is not new or in "new" condition.
Binding is well age worn, covers detached, spine leather perished and lacking (as often seen on Beers county atlases), remnants of old tape adhesion down the board joints, see photo. Atlas text block still sewn and tight as issued, mostly clean throughout. Internally atlas is quite nice.
Paper is gently toned, still clean, tight, sound internally.
Still attractive on the shelf. The atlas displays a unique age patina and is in overall nice antiquarian condition, any age flaws which may be present seem easy to overlook or forgive.
Please review photos for more detail showing how this desirable and scarce survives. The asking price reflects the condition based on our examination and 35+ years full time exposure to antiquarian books, maps and printed ephemera of all types and genres. Flaws seen and/ or described have been taken into account.
Book Measures c. 17" H x 13 1/2" W.
