(Old Books, Early 20th Century Books, Art History, Visual Arts, Female Nudes, Illustrated Books).
La Beaute de la Femme Dans L'Art.
Published c. 1920, Paris by Lapina & Fils. Texte de Boyer D'Argent.
53 plates. Text in French. Illustrated throughout with 53 well printed color plates, each spot mounted to two top corners by publisher onto larger colored heavy paper backing sheets.
Publisher's pictorial paper wrappers, color image mounted to cover as issued.
Book is physically old and shows some signs of handling and time. Book is not new or in "new" condition.
Binding age worn, spine paper entirely lacking (due to inherently fragile binding style), front cover slightly chipped along edges, both covers loose, most pages and text block itself now loose, remains overall attractive as an object.
Text block paper is gently toned, book survives essentially as a large stack of loose color prints, each readily framable.
Still attractive on the shelf. Book displays a pleasing and unique age patina, any age flaws easy to overlook or forgive. A very nice selection of art works, many rarely found in traditional art history books, including some nice art nouveau and art deco style images.
Please review photos for more detail showing how this still appealing large folio art plate book survives. The asking price per color plate reflects the condition based on our examination and 35+ years full time exposure to antiquarian books. Flaws seen and described have been taken into account.
Book Measures c. 14 7/8" H x 11" W.
