First Principles of the Differential and Integral Calculus, or the Doctrine of Fluxions Intended as an Introduction to the Physico-Mathematical Sciences; Taken Chiefly from the Mathematics of Bezout and Translated from the French for the Use of the Students of the University at Cambridge, New England.
Published 1824, Cambridge, Massachusetts by Hilliard and Metcalf.
195 pages. Text in English. 2 folding engraved diagram plates at rear.

Rare early American math book used at Harvard, likely first American edition. Signed in pencil by early owner Charles W. Rich.

Publisher's paper covered boards, paper spine label, deckled edges entirely untrimmed as issued.

Book is physically old and shows some signs of handling and time. Book is not new or in "new" condition.

Binding gently age worn, cloth stained, boards rubbed with light overall surface dustiness and soiling, remains overall attractive as an object.

Text block paper is gently toned, light to moderate scattered age spotting, old damp staining in places (mostly blank margins and gutters, internally still well preserved, tight, sound.

Still attractive on the shelf. Book displays a pleasing and unique age patina and is in nice antiquarian condition, any age flaws easy to overlook or forgive.

Please review photos for more detail showing how this antique book survives. The asking price reflects the condition based on our examination and 35+ years full time exposure to antiquarian books. Flaws seen and described have been taken into account.
