Garden Beauties.
Published c. 1850-60, London by Paul Jerrard.

12 color lithographed floral plates (of 14), each seemingly heightened with hand color, final leaf is a publisher's list of their offerings.

Incomplete thus, but remaining 12 floral plates are lovely examples.

Rare in any condition.

In a unique patented binding of the era which resembles hard plastic but is likely gutta-percha.

Publisher's 1/4 leather binding, gutta-percha (?) covers, gilt title lettering & floral cover decorations.

As typical, all the plates are loose since the binding used organic glue which has dried, allowing all the heavy paper plates to be cleanly detached.

Book is physically old and shows some signs of handling and time. Book is not new or in "new" condition.

Binding age worn, rubbing and surface scratching, couple small edge chips including one to top corner of front board various signs of handling and time but nothing offensive or severe, book remains overall attractive as an object.

Still attractive on the shelf. The book displays a pleasing and unique age patina and is in overall nice antiquarian condition, any age flaws which may be present seem easy to overlook or forgive.

Please review photos for more detail showing how this book survives. The asking price reflects the condition based on our examination and 35+ years full time exposure to antiquarian books, maps and printed ephemera of all types and genres. Flaws seen and/ or described have been taken into account.

Book Measures c. 11 1/2" H x 7 3/4" W.
