Empire Francais Uniformes de L'Armee et de la Marine, by La Laisse.
Published c. 1856-60 Paris by Hautcoeur.
59 lithographed plates with original hand color highlighted with gum Arabic as issued (of 60- lacks one plate).
Rare mid-19th century color plate book in any condition, sold as a fine run of military uniform color images (priced at $20 each to start).
Publisher's cloth binding, gilt title lettering & cover decorations. Many plates dated c. 1853, at the height of the Crimean War.
Slightly incomplete, contains 59 of original 60 images, cover is detached, one plate with closed tear. Still a wonderful collection well worthy of ownership.
Book is physically old and shows signs of handling and time. Book is not new or in "new" condition.
Binding gently age worn, joints slightly scuffed, remains overall attractive as an object.
Text block paper is gently toned, images clean, internally still well preserved, tight, sound.
Still attractive on the shelf.
Please review photos for more detail and our best attempt to convey how this wonderful rare antique book survives.
