(Old Books, 19th Century Books, Juvenile Books, Children's Books, Illustrated Books, McLoughlin Bros).
Frisky the Squirrel. Christmas Eve series.
Published 1889, New York by McLoughlin Brothers.
12 pages. Text in English. Illustrated throughout in color lithography.
Complete spine slit, all pages now separated and loose. Scarce in any condition, not to be confused with the far more common small McLoughlin version which has totally different illustrations. This quarto version in the Christmas Eve series seems to be scarce.
Publisher's pictorial chromo-lithographed paper wrappers.
Book is physically old and shows some signs of handling and time. Book is not new or in "new" condition.
Binding well age worn, centerfold image with small adhesion "pulls", book remains overall attractive as an object despite being a series of loose pages. Images capture condition better than words.
Still attractive on the shelf. The book displays a pleasing and unique age patina, the age flaws which may be present seem easy to overlook or forgive.
