456 pages. Text in English. Frontis portrait by Pelton plus five other Pelton engraved plates protected by original tissue guards. All the engravings remain fresh and richly printed in appearance, nice dark ink color tone indicates high quality production (note the strong offsetting to the tissue guards from the ink dust).

Item is physically old and shows some signs of handling and time. Item is not new or in "new" condition.
Binding gently age worn, covers rubbed and spotted, small nick to edge of text block first few leaves, still remains overall sound, tight, attractive as an object.
Text block paper is toned but clean, light scattered age spotting, internally well preserved, book remains fresh in appearance.
Still attractive on the shelf. Item displays a pleasing and unique age patina and is in nice antiquarian condition, any age flaws easy to overlook or forgive.
