816 pages. Text in English. Illustrated throughout with 11 full page engraved plates (frontis plus 10 within text). A large thick heavy book.

Attractive antiquarian full leather binding, raised bands, gilt title lettering & compartment decorations, embossed ruled covers, gilt cover decoration, original owner's name in gilt on cover, all edges gilt.

Book is physically old and shows some signs of handling and time. 

Binding gently age worn but still appealing, leather and joints scuffed and rubbed but still supple, 3" crack at top of rear joint, small split at head of front joint, remains overall attractive as an object.

Text block paper is gently age toned as typical, internally book remains mostly clean, tight and sound. A book which has been taken care of but may/ does not look like new.

Still attractive on the shelf. Book displays a pleasing and unique age patina and is in rather nice antiquarian condition, any age flaws seem easy to overlook or forgive.
