190 pages. Text in English & (mostly) French. Illustrated with dozens of wood engravings with (amateur) early hand color.
Full leather binding, smooth spine, gilt band.
Rare early American language guide with woodcuts. Also with an extensive section on beasts and birds apparently aimed at children.
Book is over 200 years old and shows some signs of handling and time. Book is not new or in "new" condition.
Binding heavily age worn and now in sections, leather covers detached and scuffed, (front and rear covers detached).
Text block paper is toned, light to moderate scattered age spotting and thumb staining from browsing, internally still well preserved, tight, sound.
Still attractive on the shelf. Book displays a pleasing and unique age patina and is in nice antiquarian condition, any age flaws easy to overlook or forgive.
Please review photos for more detail and our best attempt to convey how this rare early American juvenile book survives. Rare in any condition.
