The Lady's Oracle: An Elegant Pastime for Social Parties and the Family Circle, by Henrietta Dumont.
Published 1860, Philadelphia by H.C. Peck & Theo. Bliss.
270 pages. Text in English. Wood cut ornaments and decorations.
Fascinating book aimed at women specifically.
Publisher's decoratively patterned cloth binding, gilt title lettering and pictorial spine decorations, embossed cover designs.
Item is physically old and shows some signs of handling and time. Item is not new or in "new" condition.
Binding age worn, book is a bit shaken, cloth worn along extremities, rubbed, clear signs of past use, nothing offensive, still remains overall attractive as an object.
Text block paper is toned, internally well preserved, small minor scattered staining or soiling, any flaws of a minor type unworthy of specific mention.
Still attractive on the shelf. Item displays a pleasing and unique age patina and is in nice antiquarian condition, any age flaws easy to overlook or forgive.
