Published 1841, Philadelphia by J.B. Lipincott & Co.
608 pages. Text in English. Engraved frontis and half title protected by original tissue guard.
Publisher's pictorial gilt stamped full leather gift binding, gilt title and decorative spine bands, cover design showing Byron age 19 standing beside a rock gazine out to sea, embossed ruled covers, all edges gilt, gilt decorated dentelles (turn-ins).
Item is physically old and shows some signs of handling and time. Item is not new or in "new" condition.
Binding gently age worn, joints slightly scuffed, spine ends with small edge chipping, front hinge cracked, covers firmly attached, still remains overall very attractive as an object.
Text block paper is slightly toned but clean, internally well preserved, engraved plates slightly protruding from text block, any flaws of a minor type unworthy of specific mention.
Still very attractive on the shelf. Item displays a pleasing and unique age patina and is in nice antiquarian condition, any age flaws easy to overlook or forgive.
