Maria Edgeworth Collected Works 1832 lovely decorative 18 volume leather setBrian DiMambro- Antiquarian Books, Maps & Prints
(Old Books, 19th Century Books, Leather Books, Maria Edgeworth, Decorative Leather Books).
Tales and Novels by Maria Edgeworth in Eighteen Volumes.
Published 1832, London for Baldwin and Cradock.
18 volumes, each c. 300 pages, engraved frontis and half title in each volumes. Text in English.
Attractive antiquarian 1/2 leather bindings, slightly raised & gilt bands, gilt compartment decorations and title lettering, marbled covers, edges, and end papers.
Set is physically old and shows some signs of handling and time.
Bindings gently age worn but still fresh, clean and appealing, leather and joints slightly rubbed but still supple, light minor old damp staining to a couple spines which blends in visually, remains overall very attractive as an object.
Text block paper is gently age toned as typical, internally books remain clean, tight and sound. A set which has been taken care of but may/ does not look like new.
Still attractive on the shelf. Set displays a pleasing and unique age patina and is in rather nice antiquarian condition, any age flaws seem easy to overlook or forgive.
Please review photos for more detailed attempt to present this set as it survives.
We often over-describe any flaws that many sellers would not even bother to mention since most people would overlook them as minor and unworthy of comment. Many people tell us the books they receive from us are nicer in person than it appears on the screen. We want you to be clear about what you are buying, so we take many photos and try to describe it frankly.
Book Measures c. 6 1/2" H x 4 1/2" W. x 17 1/2" along the shelf
