Michigan 1905 Dr. Fenner's Family Remedies rare patent medicine cook book promo
Brian DiMambro- Antiquarian Books, Maps & Prints(Old Books, 19th Century Books, Advertising, Patent Medicine, Dr. Fenner, Kidney Medication, Illustrated Books).
Dr. Fenner's Peoples Remedies for the Family.
Published 1905, Fredonia, NY and N. Lansing, Michigan. Patent Medicine company promotional "cook book".
32 pages plus wrappers. Text in English. Illustrated throughout with line drawings, a distinct art nouveau aesthetic used with typography and ornamentation.
Scarce early 20th century patent medicine promotional, the rear cover custom overprinted for the merchant with his N. Lansing Michigan store name. Distributed with the products from the manufacturer so the merchant could distribute them to his clients and turn them into customers.
Publisher's pictorial art work paper wrappers, company coupon affixed to front cover as issued, with rare small loose supplemental promotional magazine subscription 10 cent coupon. An early North Lansing, Michigan merchant's purple rubber name stamp of Robertson's Drug Store on the cover. A unique example thus.
The small, thin, inherently fragile paper booklet is over 115 years old and shows some signs of handling and time. Cover is age toned with small lower corner creasing. It is however quite clean and fresh internally, seemingly not used in a kitchen.
Nice example of early 20th century mail order marketing of patent medicines to American consumers, with the separately printed coupons still present.
Booklet displays a pleasing and unique age patina and is in nice antiquarian condition, any age flaws visible, described or easy to overlook.
