Rare early 19th century American juvenile work which includes discussions about bee-keeping (woodcut shows two children before a bee-house), native American Indians and the burning of the orphans asylum in Philadelphia. Three or four small woodcuts within.
Period 1/4 leather binding, smooth spine, gilt bands & title lettering, hand marbled paper covered boards.
Binding remains tight and sound.
Text block remains overall clean, and displays a pleasing age patina, various age spotting, some old damp staining.
Book remains well preserved and attractive on the shelf. It displays a pleasing and unique age patina and is in nice antiquarian condition, the age flaws easy to overlook or forgive.
