Published 1834, New York by Monson Bancroft.
2 volumes, each c. 300 pages and 35 portraits. 70 portraits total in set.
Longacre was one of the early chief engravers to the U.S. Mint.
Period full leather binding, smooth spine, gilt ruled bands, gilt compartments richly decorated, gilt lettered title and vole, covers gilt outlined in patterned rule.
Some rubbing on spine, small chipping of leather at head and tail. Front joints slightly rubbed, but bindings remains clean, tight, and sound with great age patina.
Some scattered age spotting throughout. Portrait plates large clean, with some minor spotting or foxing. The age flaws are easy to overlook or forgive.
Books measure: 10 1/4" H X 7 1/8" W.
Set along the shelf measures: 3 1/4".
