Includes much on Indian Wars, such as Penhallow's Indian Wars, Wheeler's Narrative of Expedition against the Nipmucks, Attack of Indians on Walpole in 1755, Clough's Journal, Journey of Capt. Stevens to redeem Indian captives, Massacre at Dover, Character of the Penacook, Indian names along the Merrimack river, on and on.
Period 1/2 leather bindings, raised & gilt bands, gilt compartment decorations & title lettering, marbled covers & end papers.
Set is physically old and shows some signs of handling and time. Set is not new or in "new" condition.
Bindings age worn, leather rubbed but still supple, joints scuffed, couple joints broken or weakened, final two volumes with dried/ crackled leather, one cover corner scuffed with leather loss, etc.- set remains overall attractive and is in entirely agreeable condition..
Text block paper is gently toned, light scattered age spotting, internally still clean, well preserved, tight, sound.
Still attractive on the shelf. Set displays a pleasing and unique age patina and is in nice antiquarian condition, any age flaws easy to overlook or forgive.
