The New York Mirror, and Ladies' Literary Gazette, ed. by George F. Morris.
Published 1829, New York by Daniel Fanshaw.
253, 208 pages. Text in English. Engraved half title, two full page engraved views. Approx. 50 issues.

Long run of sequential issues, beginning with Nov. 29, 1828 (number 21), then skipping to issue #27 (Jan. 10, 1829) and continuing weekly through issue #52 (July 4, 1829), then continuing with July 11, 1829 (vol. VII, #1) weekly through #26, Jan. 2, 1830.

Extensive detailed index to first vol. includes subjects such as Irish inn-keeper, Aurora Borealis in Russia, Dutch mail, recipe to make a Gothic story, oriental style, Mahometan sermon, love, ugly man, Corsican humor, peep into a seraglio, magician of Vicenza, plus endless poems and a long list of music.

Period 1/2 leather binding, smooth spine, gilt bands, gilt title lettering, gilt compartment decorations, marbled covers, original owner's name in gilt on red leather cover label.

Item is physically old and shows some signs of handling and time. Item is not new or in "new" condition.

Binding well age worn, leather scuffed, rubbed, spine chipped with loss, remains overall attractive as an object.

Text block paper is gently toned, light to moderate scattered age spotting, numerous pages with tears across the middle of them, internally still tight, sound. A much browsed and at times roughly handled bound volume of newspapers aimed at women which today are quite scarce either individually or bound together in long sequential runs like this.

Still attractive on the shelf. Book displays a pleasing and unique age patina and is in nice antiquarian condition, any age flaws easy to overlook or forgive.

Please review photos for more detail and our best attempt to convey how this antique item survives.

Book Measures c. 13" H x 10 1/4" W.
