Work is almost an encyclopedia of societal beliefs in a huge range of topics focused largely on the many iterations of Occultism, with discussions of women's imagination, astrology, comets, the Moon, magicians and sorcerers, salamanders, phrenology and physiognomy, Nostradamus, cats, ventriloquists, chiromancers, enchantresses, dragons & gargoyles, Templars, on and on.

Attractive antiquarian leather bindings, smooth spine, gilt title lettering, gilt spine decorations.

Set is physically old and shows some signs of handling and time. 

Bindings age worn but still appealing, leather and joints chipped and rubbed but still supple, spine ends chipped, couple boards weakened, set remains overall sound, tight and attractive as an object.

Text block paper is gently age toned as typical, internally set remains mostly clean, tight and sound. A set which has been taken care of but may/ does not look like new.

Still attractive on the shelf. Set displays a pleasing and unique age patina and is in rather nice antiquarian condition, any age flaws seem easy to overlook or forgive.
