Early American imprint of the great Matthew Carey whose papers reside at AAS. Seems to be an uncommon/ scarce American imprint.
Period 18th century American publishers full calf leather binding, smooth spine, gilt bands, gilt title lettering on contrasting red leather label.
Binding scuffed but still clean, tight, and sound, some splitting along joints, small chipping at spine head, covers still firmly and well attached.
Text block remains overall clean, and displays a pleasing age patina, small scattered staining or spotting.
Book remains well preserved and attractive on the shelf. It displays a pleasing and unique age patina and is in nice antiquarian condition, the age flaws easy to overlook or forgive.
