Paterculi Historiae Romanae Libri Duo, by Velleius Paterculus.
Published 1754, Paris by Joseph Barbou.
238 pages. Text in Latin. Engraved frontispiece, title page and two chapter headings (by Sessard).
Period full mottled leather binding, raised bands, gilt title lettering & compartment decorations, double gilt ruled covers, turn-ins decoratively gilt patterned.
Book is physically old and shows some signs of handling and time. Book is not new or in "new" condition.
Binding gently age worn but still appealing, leather rubbed but still supple, joints slightly scuffed with some surface splitting, covers remain well attached, tiny chip to spine head, remains overall attractive as an object.
Text block paper is gently toned, internally still well preserved, tight, sound.
Still attractive on the shelf. Book displays a pleasing and unique age patina and is in nice antiquarian condition, any age flaws easy to overlook or forgive.
