Title page and first 3 leaves are loose and slightly trimmed down, according to an 1868 inscription on front pastedown they were lacking then and have since been supplied.
Period full leather binding, smooth spine, gilt bands & compartment decorations, gilt title lettering on contrasting black leather label, marbled end papers.
Item is physically old and shows some signs of handling and time. Item is not new or in "new" condition.
Binding age worn, leather scuffed, yet still remains overall attractive as an object.
Text block paper is toned and stained with small scattered spotting throughout, lacks rear end paper book ends with index leaf.
Still attractive on the shelf. Item displays a pleasing and unique age patina and is in nice antiquarian condition, any age flaws easy to overlook or forgive.
