Published 1839, Hartford, Canfield & Robins.
108 pages. Text in English. Profusely illustrated throughout with woodcuts and engraved maps.
Fascinating mid-19th century overview of the entire world and its people aimed at a youthful audience. Embeds the biases and prejudices of the era. Great assortment of images which have an almost folk-art appeal to them.
Book is well age worn and in poor condition,. Shaken, some leaves protruding, cover wrapped long ago in plain cloth, foxed, spotted, dog eared, etc. Despite the condition, still a very charming geographical juvenile of this era with maps, views and peoples represented.
